"Lots of Promise"
Book Introduction

Lots of Promise is the true-life story of a comedic, God-gifted athlete who must keep a trio of promises to his mother…

Mark Anthony DiBello was born to play and perform.

An emotional, exuberant, and excitable 2-year-old; Mark wanders from the backyard, he nears a disastrous drop-off and stream below…his unraveling shoelace is his only hope…

In grade school, a telling interest is revealed in the boy. He is “daydreaming” while staring out on an athletic field. When we see him again, he will be a new man. It will be his senior year in high school.

In this true-life story of a comedic, God-gifted athlete who must keep a trio of promises to his mother...the second semester of high school begins the latter half of Mark Anthony DiBello’s story.

Mark attends a small-time community college. In a shockingly fearful episode, Mark is almost paralyzed in a running accident at practice. Never leaving his side, it exemplifies the never-failing strength and fundamental hope he receives from his mother.

On maternal direction, Mark embarks south to the University Of Miami and the “big-time.”
It is his mother’s dream and a promise for him to play ball, graduate, and....

However, after the tragic sudden illness and the devastating death of his beloved mom, Mark, spirals deep into drugs, drinking and depression. But after a fateful vision of his mother and the recollection of three promises he made to her, he tries out for the team.

A grueling football season is enough to make fervent sports fans appreciate the behind-the-scenes look at the development of the most publicized and successful collegiate team of the 1980’s: the University of Miami Hurricanes; and a son’s efforts to make the team and win a Championship.

Finally, on the campus lawn, Mark stands [on the sideline, so to speak] as a parade of friends and graduates receive their degrees. Mark gracefully wishes all his friends a final fond farewell.
It appears Mark’s story ends in another unfulfilled dream and unmet promises...that is...until...
